First wedding (sorta)
Gotta call this a sorta wedding because it was not your typical wedding.
Bride doing her make-up. Yes that is a mascara cap she is using for a mirror. I will also mention that she is already dressed for the wedding.... You will see soon....
Quick pose in the courthouse before the wedding ceremony. I got VERY few pictures of themlooking happier than this....
Making it official. The two witnesses in the back are the fathers of bride and groom. I was disappointed in myself for these. I made a DIY light scoop just for these shots but did not have it with me. A few days earlier I was not allowed to bring my camera into the courthouse so assumed no cameras this day as well. Only wide angle I have is a 17-40 f/4L, so had to use straight/bounce flash in here...
Posing after the courtroom ceremony.
They couple are Wiccan/pagan. So the courthouse was a simple legal matter, the real spiritual ceremony was held in their little dirty apartment.
Here is the altar that the high priest arranged that morning.
Next couple pictures are from their ceremony, called a handfasting. Neat ceremony but the bride and groom did not bother rehearsing and could not read the cue cards handed to them. So that unfortunately ruined the atmosphere.
Excuse me for the small pictures. These pictures came out so poor, considering circumstances, I just uploaded small copies and gave them to the couple. More on that in a bit....
The high priest cleansing the witnesses with burning sage
Bride cleansed the groom and vice versa. (My little one on the couch )
Reading their cards during the ceremony.
That's enough of the depressing shots
The reception was held at a local park. Had shade, BBQ, and playground so nice relaxed atmosphere. It also allowed the groom to change into more comfortable clothes...
The cake
And the cake topper. Advice on taking pics of this thing would be nice....
I know it is soft, especially the bride, but did not get many of them looking happy so this is actually one of the better pictures.
Little cousin of the bride enjoying the BBQ
The sharing of the first slice of cake.
Bride and sister. I liked my manipulation of the light here to black out the background. Trust me nothing back there to see anyways
Favourite shot from the reception With possible exception of some pictures of my family
Finally a group shot. B&G, and all the parents.
Okay I lied, one last shot because my wife is beautiful Very little work done in post to get the lighting as is. This was shot morning of the wedding.
Yes I attending this wedding as a friend and as such did things a little different. Like taking my wife and two young kids....
Was very disappointed in reception shots as well. Got some decent shots BUT there was a beautiful lake and little waterfalls at the park. But the bride and groom could not be bothered to walk down there for the pictures. Even though it was their request a few days earlier when we went for a walk through the park.
Looking forward to my next wedding. I got two coming up next year. Again as a friend or family. At least that is what I have suggested to them. My cousin has asked me take the pictures I said of course, but still strongly suggested a specialized photographer for the day.

Just got a Spyder2 yesterday and it literally changes the way I see my photos
This was as positive a light as I could portray them, unfortunately. Trust me it got a lot worse, especially their comments coming at me and my family.
These pictures also portray as positive as possible. I choose ones that minimized the staining and ugly looks they were exchanging all day.
I do fully understand where you are coming from and understand your position, agree even. It is just very tough to find any positives from the two weeks we spent with them.
These shots have already been run through lightroom. The handfasting pics have just had an auto tone though.
Plus just figuring out curves now as well. That is making a large difference too.
