I'm working to establish a photography program at my children's school, so I thought I'd ask my fellow Dgrinners if you have any equipment you'd like to donate (tax deduction) to this non-profit. I spoke to the director today, and they are ready to schedule a class period for photography, we just need the equipment.
Any supporters would get an official letter form the school for your records.
Thank you so much,
Caroline

Are we doing film or digital?
They are expecting 8-10 students in this class, ages 12-14. They will be learning photography basics and also studying the masters for inspiration. They are an incredibly intelligent and creative group of kids.
Okay, here's my attempt at an equipment list, what I think they need to get started:
2-3 digital SLR bodies, something like the Nikon d40, batteries and chargers
lenses for those bodies- Nikkor 50 1.8 (assuming Nikon bodies) I think would be good for learning
camera bags
1-2 film SLRs and lenses
Photography Books
I'm open to any other suggestions! Thanks for any help.

NIKON D700
I'm in Austin, Tx. The school website is austingifted.org.
Thanks,
Caroline
So far I have a Nikon f80 (but no lens for it), and a Canon RebelX (with 35-80 zoom), and 1 bag. I still NEED at least one dslr with lens, a lens for the f80, and 2 bags. I would also appreciate books that don't include any nudes (since we are working with middle schoolers).
Thank you for considering this.

Have you contacted your local pro shop? How about calling B & H?

As soon as you have a digital body let me know what type card it takes.
