Loves me some shallow depth of field and sparkly eyes! thumb.gif

She is SO adorable in front of the camera - how do you get her to pose for you without grumbling? She looks like she just owns it in front of the lens (budding actress on your hands?!!!?? mwink.gif)

Hey Mitchell....happy fourth of july to you and yours!

    Both photos are adorable.

There is a spot on her right cheek in the first....right cheek and forehead in the second that appear to be blown out. I bet you shot RAW and can fix that.

    What a grinner....:D

    Thanks DM.

I use a trick with Samantha that I learned years ago when dealing with kids in my office. I give them the illusion of control.

Me: "Samantha, I'm going to take your picture today. Please tell me when."

    Samantha: "Not now, I'm busy."

    5 minutes later...

Samantha: "Daddy, I'm ready for you to take my picture now."

    Me: :D

Hey Jeff. Have a great holiday.

What makes you say that those areas are blown? Lack of detail?

I struggle with this on these shots since I tend to process them on the bright side. I use the highlights clipping warning in ACR and dial the exposure in until there are no blown highlights. This image should not have anything blown according to my ACR info.

    Any thoughts?

It's more evident on the first...but yes some lack of detail. Maybe the red channel?

Ididnt do any measuring....just peeking by eye.

Mitchell, what a brilliant piece of psychology! I'm not only going to use that (and variations thereof) on my own progeny, but I have plenty of college-aged students for whom variants can probably apply too. Inspired!

My office encounter with young kids who are reluctant to be examined usually starts with me saying "I'm going to look in your ears. You tell me which ear I can look in first."

Works like a charm. It's all about the illusion of control.

Now if I could just get Jeff to let me take his picture.ne_nau.gif

It's never worked that way around my place. My son has always been savy to the ways of phychology - I guess that's why he studied that at The College of William and Mary.

Maybe that would help ne_nau.gif I would have to have more than 2 brain cells working and right now that's an issue as one's on strike!
