My hairdresser offered to come to my home to do my hair for free after I did a free shoot of her newborn. She arrived with her baby and her 5 yr old daughter. While I waited for my hair color to process I shot these by my huge living room window which is fast becoming my favorite spot in the house for lighting.

Thanks everyone, you all made me feel proud! I think I am at least knowing GOOD light when I find it! I know how to be consistent with this type of portrait, and learning THAT is huge for me.

    Mitchell, you made my day.

Elaine, I think I am figuring out some of the reasons Audrey can do what she does, and the jpeg thing can make a difference ..I have my d 300 set to vivid, I shoot RAW and a small jpeg, and the camera's jpeg looks GREAT SOC. in fact I often aim for that with my RAW file. The downside would be shooting a great variety of things, then a bad pic can't be saved. But I think I understand her reasons and her success with jpeg.

Love them all!. Cute girl... and WOW that is some nice windowlight and I like the catchlights...are they coming from another source? The only thing I would remind you is that with the couch to watch the pillows on the back side... The pillow sticking up behind her head in #2 is a bit distracting.....
