Leaf cutter bee at home

Leaf cutter bee using an old hole in the wall. It has already got some bits of leaf in the hole and 2 hours later the hole was sealed with leaves and the bee was filling another hole. So far they have studiously avoided using the provided "bee house" just round the corner :)

Stunning detail (as usual)! (v. impressive leaf-cutting apparatus)

    Hairy little devil!

So, was this taken in the LV garden? I took a quick look on wiki, and found that certain species of these chaps can be up to 1.5" long.

    Nice job!

    Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Mark for the comments :D

Mark , I tend to shoot at wider apertures than most people to reduce diffraction softening but get the DOF back using focus stacking - I'm a bit of a detail freak. I was initially disappointed with the sharpness of shots at 2:1 and above when I first got the MPE-65.
