Hurricane Ridge Slideshow

For a change, this 4th of July weekend, I was not busy photographing fireworks. Instead, my wife and I decided to visit Hurricane Ridge. The trip was fantastic! The Avalanche Lilies were at their peak, and the wildlife were out in full force. As if that weren't enough, moonrise and sunset times are very close together now, which makes for some excellent moonscape shots. I hope you enjoy these images.

All images were shot with the Olympus E-620 and 9-18 mm (18-35 mm equivalent) or the 70-300 mm (140-600 mm equivalent) lens. The more I use it, the more I'm loving this system for hikes and backpacking. I was especially impressed with the 70-300 mm lens. Imagine a portable, go-anywhere 600 mm!

A special thank you goes out to Dan for informing us about the "Show Off" tool in Smugmug.

Awesome series! My favorite is the one with the moonrise. :jawdrop

I think you have just inspired me to make a trip over there. Do you have any idea on how long the wild flowers will be there?

Thanks, Danny! The wildflowers (the Avalanche Lilies, anyway) will be there for maybe another week or so, I think. Good luck! :D

Very very cool, excellent photos. Love the shots of the moon and the shots of the goat and kid are great too. They're all good actually.

I think your portable setup is better than mine (which includes a 16-35, 24-105, 70-200, and 100-400, and occasionally a 100 macro, and often a sore back afterward) :D

Thanks, Ron! You call that portable!? Man, you are one strong dude. bowdown.gif I've tried a system like that while I hike. I end up feeling miserable and not enjoying the journey, no matter how great the destination may be. :D

Mahesh!! bowdown.gif I really have no words. What a fantastic, incredible set, and I love that you used the Show Off slideshow to feature them all in one space! :smo

I've been contemplating what to put in my hiking kit, and I still don't think I could tote all that. But it if very, very obvious that such dedication pays off. Again: incredible.

Excellent series Mahesh- For me though 'The hills are alive' is just spectacular. It really is a beautiful and well composed shot! The moonrise over mountains is my next fave... thumb.gif
