Hi you'll,

I got to Merritt Island in between my trips to the rookery.

some sandpipers

24742824-L.jpg

a black-necked stilt
24742831-L.jpg

a reddish egret

24742839-L.jpg

a tri-colored heron

24742847-L.jpg

The light was lousy that day (a lot of that this time of the year) hence my use of ISO 400 for those shots.

I should have my 500mm lens in by Tuesday and I can't wait to get back there. Hopefully I will have some better light.

Thnks AJ. I enjoy shooting the smaller birds and hope that I'll be able to get better shots of them with my soon to arrive 500mm lens.

Thanks. I wish I could have used the sand piper shot but it wasn't taken at the rookery.

VERY nice work Harry! The sandpipers (I think they are Western Sandpipers [Calidris mauri], the right most one in fresher plumage) is an ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS shot! clap.gif I like the tri-colored too.

really nice variety of birds! Always a pleasure to look at your work Harry. Seems you handled the low light with ease.... I really like the 1st one with the relections of the three birds - real nice!

Thank you David. I'm very happy with the sandpiper shot. I wasn't sure of the exact ID on them. They looked like a Baird's sandpiper to me. Here's a close up of one. What do you think?
