From Hurricane Ridge in Olympic National Park. Great time to be there with the lupine in bloom, and I was fortunate to get some close shots of an overly adorable fawn.

My goodness, Ron! I LOVE the deer shots! I'm totally jealous that you captured a little baby frolicking in the meadow. clap.gifclap.gifthumb.gif
Shoot in RAW because memory is cheap but memories are priceless.

Having tried (and failed miserably) to do this recently, I can appreciate the incredible skill and patience this takes. Bravo! bowdown.gifbowdown.gif

Thanks everyone! I got really lucky that the fawn and doe were that close, it was fun watching them interact. These shots were about an hour before sunset when the fields were in shade. It's amazing how small the fawn was.

Nice set, Ron. Looks like you had a good visit to the ridge. All nice but numbers 1, 6, 7,and 8 are awesome.

When we lived in western Washington we did a lot of cycling. Every summer after we had enough miles to be in shape we'd ride from the city pier on Port A up to the visitor center on Hurricane Ridge and back. Took us longer to ride up than back down ne_nau.gif Now looking at your photos I realize by riding so late in the season we missed seeing the lupine which are my all time favorite flower. Plus the fawns are way bigger in late summer. So in addition to never seeing the sunsets you post, I realize I missed out on the lupine eek7.gif Heck now I feel like I have to move back down there to fill in the gaps headscratch.gif

Thanks Dan! I definitely think the wildflower peak at Hurricane Ridge is now, I'm not sure how it compares to other years since I haven't been there in the summer before. I assumed, wrongly, that the wildflowers wouldn't be out for a few more weeks so I was pleasantly surprised to see them (unlike Rainier where they're not out until August). I got really lucky with the fawn, I had never seen a deer that small in my life let alone been in a position to photograph one.

I didn't start photographing until recently (have only been "serious" for about two years, got my first camera almost four years ago), and I think back on all of the opportunities I missed before then. Thankfully I live in a place with ready access to a lot of awesome scenery, so I'm catching up little by little. You don't need to move back, but you might be due for a visit :D I need to get my stupid self up to Alaska sometime too...
