Question About Developing Old Film

A friend of mine this weekend was given a box of undeveloped black and white film cartridges dating back to World War II. Anyone know if there is a chance this film could actually be developed after all these years?
Wasn't sure where to post this question...please move if necessary.
The man who took the original photos was a survivor of the Bataan Death March, so of course, the family is very interested in possibly getting them developed.
Is there a film specialist anyone is aware of who might be able to help salvage whatever these photos are?
Thanks!

I would suggest calling someone who specializes in developing film and not any camera store. In my area of California, The Dark Room is one such company.
I have used them years ago but not recently.
Best of luck with your project!
It came with several spools of unused film and i found there aren't many places left that develop old film. I could only find a place in Denver and they charged about $40 to develop a roll.
Not sure where you are located but i'd be careful... i can only imagine how cool that would be if they turn out.
Try these guys. They have been processing film for years and before that black and white for years. They used to process all my film and still do my fathers when he shoots.

Thanks so much! I'll pass the information on and we'll hope for the best on the film processing!
