When I Google my website

the first link that comes up says "SmugMug Photo Sharing. Your photos look better here."

How do I change this title.

How come my title is not showing up and smugmug title is showing up instead??

I believe I did a lot of this optimization already. What am I missing exactly? It didn't use to say smugmug in the search result when I googled my website but now it does. So something has changed. What is it?

I went here and looked, but do not quite understand how I am supposed to enter the code in my bio box. headscratch.gif I have a slideshow, does it go before or after that? Currently when you google my site it shows up first but with code from my slideshow as the description.

    When it says:

    ****** name="description" content="blah blah blah blah" />

Does that mean I actually type the word "description" or do I put my description there? Or is the "blah blah blah" the place where I put my description?

I am not that great a computer code...took a few classes in college, but it was in C++ so a lot of this is pretty foreign to me.

Any help would be appreciated. THANKS.

Jinspin, when you follow all my search tips, what shows up in Google Search will change, and improve - but it can take some time.

There's not a way to change the "SmugMug, Your Photos Look Better Here" but you can get better results by following all my tips.

Thanks, I'll try it out and see what happens... where exactly in my bio box should I put it? Before or after the slideshow? I am assuming it should be the first thing in there? I'll give it a shot.

This is really really bad. When you have your own business it looks extremely unprofessional that when people google your website it says in big bold letters
SmugMug Photo Sharing. Your photos look better here.

instead of your actual name of your website that they click on. This is worst than having had the powered by smugmug footer at bottom of page. Wow this is really bad. For anyone who runs a business off smugmug - they do not want Smugmug Photo Sharing as top link. They want actual business name or description. The fact that you don't have coupons yet I can live with right now but this is a real deal breaker and I will have no choice but to look at alternative photo hosting websites.

It goes before the slideshow. If you want to see an example, go the the wiki page for the slideshow - http://wiki.smugmug.net/display/SmugMug/Flash+Slideshow - and scroll down to the GOTCHA.

Did you fill in a title in the Page Title field in the advanced site-wide customization? That will be picked up by Google if you have one. If I google my name, the title returned is the one from the Page Title field, and not the smugmug heading that you are seeing on your search for your site.

Thanks for the link, it helped a lot. I put some descriptive text in the bio and hid it as shown, we'll see what the result will be in Google. It usually takes awhile for them to update, right?

I would take Denise's advice, she is very knowledgable and has helped me through various customization issues. When you google my site it is the first one listed and uses my business name, the only problem I had was that my descriptive text was code from my slideshow. She sent me to a link that helped a lot. We'll see how it turns out when google gets updated.

Be patient, everyone here is very helpful and I have found that you can pretty much do anything you want with your site, you just have to take the time to figure it out...or pay someone to do it for you.

    Yes, it does.

I can see the text when I do a view source on your page, so it will get picked up. The only thing you might want to do is to add some blank lines after your description and before your slideshow code, inside of the text div - otherwise some of your slideshow code may still show up in the google results.

    Thanks Denise
My title was set to blank in customization page. I fixed it and I am hoping Google will pick up the new title. This was a big help thank you.
