Hello all,
i was asked to take the baseball team pic in just a few days,
question is,

scenario:
sunny day 4-8pm
Nikon D90
70-200 2.8, 18-105 kit lens
SB 600 speedlight

so should i shoot with the sun behind the players? and use fill flash?
and also, if i do that, how do i adjust my exposure, do i take a picture of the sky and get that expose right, then just use the flash to fill there faces

what settings would you recommend and what lens

Thanks

How many players on this team? Your single SB600 will not be enough to fill an entire baseball team if they are backlit. I would avoid placing them directly in the sun unless you want a photo of everyone squinting.

Your best bet is to find a shaded area and shot with natural light.

group shot: team 2 rows ....sun coming over left ear.....use fill flash.....

    Same sceanerio for individual shots

in these situations I shoot totally manual and hand meter my flash so I know where to set my aperture and shutter speed...............good luckthumb.gif

    what aperature setting you recommend?
if i shoot at 2.8, only 1 or 2 players will be in focus right?

You have to use a meter. Set the aperture per the flash and use your shutter speed to balance the ambient light. Learn how to do it correctly and it is a great studio profit center.
