I would like to use Smugmug as a place to host both my personal pictures and as a commercial presence site. I am not really sure if there is a way of creating this distinction within a single account. Is there way of arranging this within a single account or is it best to have multiple accounts?

    Hi, welcome wave.gif

You can have your personal stuff in private, unlisted galleries - totally separate from your photography business. Use the pro account option.

There are various hacks to keep your personal stuff from the eyes of your commercial visitors. But, it will seriously compromise the viewing of your personal site for friends/family. For example, Andy's recommendation of unlisted galleries means you can't use categories or sub-categories or keywords or searching to allow your family to browse or find your personal galleries. If you really want full features for both personal and business, I'd suggest two accounts. You don't need two pro accounts - the personal account can be standard or power.

John: You'd be really surprised at how many folks are quite fine with a ShareGroup or ShareGroups for the family stuff. wave.gif

Of course, a second account is cleanest, and best- but lots of folks and I mean lots, use one account.

I stand by my comments. It can be done and it works, you just give you half the features of Smugmug. If you're fine with that, go for it. If not, get two accounts.
