Portable Stobe question....

I recently purchased an Interfit Stellar Extreme light. Not the best brand, I know but they're decently priced and I already have a studio kit. Anyway, the light is battery powered which is what I needed. According to the manual, there's an 8 hour charge and once fully charged you get up to 100 flashes at full power, up to 300 at minimum power. My question is- do these sound like good specs to you? I have never owned another battery operated lamp and am not sure. There's only so much I can do with 100 flashes. So, I am trying to decide if I wasted my money and if I should return it and save for a better light.
