It has been a while since I have made the trip south to the Headlands for some evening shots, and with the weather clear, tonight was near perfect. A few of the main tourist spots were elbow room only. Amazing the amount of people who were using a flash tonight.

Here are some of tonight's shots.

Beautiful job on these! The unique composition of the 2nd shot is something to be proud of. thumb.gif
Shoot in RAW because memory is cheap but memories are priceless.

Excellent idea for the second one. It's hard to be unique when photographing this bridge but I think that one really stands out. Good work!

Beautiful clear sky. I like #2, too.

I agree, the angle on the second shot is quite unique.
Its nice to see a different take on an often photographed subject.
    Great work!!

Beautiful shots, Cygnus! You got some original compositions of the GG Bridge, and that's not easy to do!!

    Cheers,

Thanks everyone. I too like that 2nd shot. I tried to keep all the buildings between the cables of the bridge, but I would lose that building with the American flag on top (between the pillars). If only they would have considered us photographers when they laid out the city.

I like the next to last... nice emphasis on the bridge and the city in the distant is just enough...to show off the bridge and lines. The colors are lovely!

15524779-Ti.gif And the 2nd shot is just fantastic! Perfect light and framing.

Flash? lol3.gif I wonder what those shots look like...

I really appreciate everyone's comments. It is hard to find clear nights this time of the year. According to the fog forecast tonight is supposed to be relatively clear until 11pm. Tomorrow night doesn't look good at all.

Fog can be great though (of course, not for shots like your #2!), but is there a way to predict if it will be soupy fog or that beautiful low-crawling kind? Wasnt sure if that sfgate link indicated that. I'm dying to get one of those quintessential shots where everything's covered except the top peaks of the buildings and the bridge...

It is really a crap shoot when the fog rolls in. I have yet to see that perfect thick fog only on the bottom of the bridge. When the fog is light enough at night it can look like this
