Hi All,
I have had Lightroom 2.0 since it's release. Now it is up to 2.4. I am wanting to get a book as I know there is still a lot about it that I don't know or understand very well. I have been looking for a book and it is down to 2 books. I would like your opinions on these 2 books, especially if you own or have owned them.

Thanks a lot, Ron

These are the books.

I haven't read either, Ron, so I should probably stay out it it, but that first one is by Scott Kelby and I have read a couple of his other books.

I'd highly recommend his book just based on how easy to understand and informative his other works have been!

    Hope that helps! thumb.gif

I have both and without a doubt if you really want to learn LR2 Martin Evenings book is the one you want. Scott Kelby's book's are nice when you want a quick step by step guide on how to do something but he doesn't really cover why you might want to do it one way or another. After reading Martin's book I felt like I had a much better understanding of what LR can do. Understanding how the program works helps me see why one option might be better then another in a given situation.

I stopped by Barnes and Noble last night and looked at both books. I have not bought one yet, but it does appear to me that the Martin Evening book has a lot more information in it.

Its really a wonderful reference rather than a book you'll read cover to cover. I've got several LR books, both mentioned and I find I go to Martin's whenever I'm looking for something obscure and specific since it pretty much covers every function in the application.

Learning to USE the product, I like the Video series over on Luminous Landscape.

coincidentally I have both. I started out with the kelby books and it was good introduction..but it trully lacks in detail. The Martin evening books has all the details..what each slider does EXACTLY.

If you are comfortable with your flow and can maneuver around easily..don't waste your money on the kelby book imo.

Thanks for your input all. I really appreciate it. I picked up the Martin Evening book. It did seem to me to have a lot more info. It really appears that it will be the more helpful book.

    Thanks again, Ron
