I am having a hard time with this CNAME thing. I contacted my registar and they said they did the CNAME thing. but when i go to smugmug to set it up i get this message "That hostname doesn't resolve to SmugMug's CNAME (domains.smugmug.com)."

please help

am i alone on this CNAME business. I want the website to look professional and i can't get this thing to work

Ask them explicitly what they mean when they say they "did the CNAME thing". It sounds like they didn't direct it to domains.smugmug.com.

From the wiki page:

You will need to edit your existing setup so that your domains CNAME points to domains.smugmug.com .... It must be exactly domains.smugmug.com do not put anything else in. DO NOT point your domain at yournickname.smugmug.com no matter how tempted you may be. It will not work.

well thats probably it. i will have to try it.

i told them to point it to petrovphotography.smugmug.com

that might be the problem.

I will tell them to make the change.

Or they forwarded it. That is what it looks like right now. But it may take a while for the changes they made to propagate.
