Hello all, took a week off from the camera and boards.
But here is the first idea I have had time to execute. Have others I am working on but will take some time.

    Hi Chris,,

Ha HA.. since ya can't smack me upside the head from way over there :smackI just can't help but say the first one would have made a perfect circle and squares entry.blbl.gif
    :lol
    =========================

Love them both.. thumb.gif I favor the simple and clean composition of the second one, and I like the saturated colors too.. I was waiting to see who was going to do Wallflowers one headlight.. it is the first song on my playlist Love that song.

I like both... skillfully shot Chris, crisp and stunning..thumb.gif

Nice work here and strong entry..

Thanks Kat yes a good fish smack is in order.Yes circles and squares definitely.
I had not thought of them, until I turned on the radio today. I love the song too. So I stopped by the Calif Auto museum.

I might reshoot at a higher aperture on some others I took did not like the depth of field. Had a Cadillac that was nice but need to work the angles.
There was also a pink Cadillac but it would not work well unless I could talk them into moving it out to a more open area.

Yes,, I can see where some increased DOF would polish them... They sure would look pretty as HDR's too with all of that chrome.mwink.gif

You pulled the theme off well.. Had to laugh at the Pink Cadillac, now I have that song stuck in my head, looks like ya got me back for the circle and square statement..:D

Will keep a look out on your thread for the others.. awesome work..thumb.gif

    Nice shots and cars :)

Have you tried to take a shot in the dark showing the light from one headlight only?

ha, ha... I said "the light from one headlight only"... maybe you can cover the other headlight
    with some blankets... rolleyes1.gif

I really like the first one. And yes, it would have been a perfect entry for the previous challenge. rolleyes1.gif

I'm not familiar with the song (OK, so I'm old ne_nau.gifrofl), but with the title and the way you shot that car in #1, it's a really good fit. The headlight is "in your face" and accentuated nicely by its surroundings. The second shot is also very engaging but there's some dead space on the lower left that I find distracting.

Yes I am going to try an HDR or at least in camera multi exp.

Tatiana it is in a car museum I do not know if I can talk them into illuminating the lights I did get some light using my flash off camera but I need reshoots on those.

Linda here is link to song I think you will like it. I was born in 1960 so I probably have you beat in the old department. You just need to get out more:D Or be around them youngins who listen to that infernal noise. Kids these days.

    Loved those two!

But you know there's an entire group of 60's songs dedicated to cars if you need some inspiration (all written when you were just a wee little tyke :D ):

    Little Deuce Coupe

    409

    Little GTO

Heheheheh...I'm really dating myself with these. Let's just say I remember 1960.

OK I give. But I do remember all of those, and was looking for those examples last night. I am heading back to do more research. Another I have to do is Folsom Prison (Blues) maybe SIlver WIngs when I fly back to Ottowa next week

Fantastic shots Chris. I agree with Linda - I like the comp of #1 more than #2, and would be really interested to see the comp of #1 on #2 (I seem to like saturated colors as of late).

Please post your HDR version(s) - really interested to see those.

Nicely done - these are strong entries. clap.gif

    Hi Chris

I really like the #3, but I think your "Another One Headlight" is gorgeous!!!

    - all those details are just amazing and the colors, light and contrast are beautiful

    - I also like the crop thumb.gif

The Folsom Prison shots are great, but I still favor the one headlight. This most recent version is the best yet. The framing and focus are spot-on. What's particularly nice about this latest version is the subtle reflection in the fender.clap.gif

Thanks Linda and Tatiana. I am in agreement. There is not many options shooting the prison. I was asking the guards coming off shift to do their best Johnny Cash impression, but none would help me out. Guess I could PS a guitar into it.
I am still liking the texture of the light. I was able to get the reflection to light up the light and then mutli exposed it in camera.

    Hi Chris,

I guess I am the odd ball out on this one..:D but I kind of view it as each of us have a moral duty to be as honest as possible from "our own" perspective, so here is my take on it, for what it is worth..

I agree with everyone on the prison shots. You did well and captured some creative shots. However, it is not as strong on theme, I agree.

However, on the car, The second one you posted is my "least" favorite because it is so busy, and the crop appears unnatural and forced to fit. I particularly don't favor that space to the lower left. There is just too much "bling bling" going on for the eye to be lead through the composition smoothly to main subject and then out. headscratch.gif

I like the yellow car shot best out of all these so far, but after Linda pointed out the negative space on the left of that one, and I went back over it, I agree with her and perhaps it can be tightened up some.

If you end up going with the square grilled maroon car, I would definitely go with your first shot of that one. I liked your color processing, treatment and crop much better on that one. However, there is something on the right side of the grill sticking out that is distracting, I am not sure what that is but I noticed it.

The "first" maroon car just has a more pro looking appeal to it the way it sits intentionally in the frame. Whereas the other one looks like it tries to meet this standard with a forced crop being shot from too far away, it is too busy, and is shot how we would normally see it on any given day if we were just standing there, so it loses its appeal.

I know you have some others planed too with the HDR etc.. So, I will wait it out for those before I cast a definite vote. I look forward to seeing what ya bring on those..

As always Chris, great shotsthumb.gif, just trying to give you my
    best possible advice..

Yes, good thing Chris.. I am only getting to my first shoot today, and even then I am really stuck on this one so far. All my original ideas need a beach or desert setting, so I am having to go with my second string ideas..

Well, best of luck to you on that wedding, those are difficult to shoot and hopefully you share with us when you get back thumb.gifwink

    Have a Great Weekend,

    Kat
