How do you think I did? All photos shot with a Canon 5D, Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8, and 430exII flash.

For your first wedding, I think you did good. I love the ring shot and the color of the processing. Love the way she's looking at him in #4.

As far as 1st times are concerned, you definitely did 100x better than I did! Amazing work I think.

As far as input goes, the only thing that comes to mind is to try and get your DOF a little more shallow. I don't know what aperture you were shooting at, but with a 5D and f/2.8 you should be able to really blur your backgrounds! Or, if super blurry backgrounds just isn't your thing, at least focus on creating a very clean, un-distracting background. That's something we all shall perpetually have to pay attention to....

    Thanks guys, appreciate the input.

Matt, in terms of aperture, I shot at 3.2 to about 4.5 for most of the event. I had my 85mm f/1.8 with me, but I'm not really comfortable enough with it to trust it with a first wedding. I also wish the DOF had been a little deeper, but the tammy isn't my go-to for that, unfortunately.

Pretty damned good for a first attempt!

#1 could have done with another 0.7 stop or so (all that white confused the camera); more attention on getting the eyes in focus; great expression though…

Wow, I hope my first is that good! How did you get so much light with only your 430EX?

Thanks all. In regards to the 430ex, I popped my Sto-fen on, and bounced up and back at about 20 degrees. For pic #4, I luckily got 5 minutes of beautiful light in the church foyer, and shot with just a little fill.
