My favorite from the first day.

Most of my time was trying out the new 5D MKII on landscapes.....but I managed about 1700 frames of wildlife too. I should be able to get at least 16 more good ones!:rofl

Fantastic pose of the barn swallow! Wow! :jawdrop The gull is sweet too with the turn of the head and the one legged stance.

Excellent Ric. clap.gif Love the full frame resolution.

How hard is it to get wildlife with the new camera?

    Thanks, Dan!

The first two were taken with the 40D and 100-400 lens. The last one with the 1D MKIIN and the 400 DO IS lens.

This is the 5D MKII and the 24-105 lens.. clap.gif

    Hardly any editing...cropped for 8X10...full frame width-wise.

Here is a crop from the same frame...nearly 100%.

I'd like to know if you managed to hang on to your Bear's jacket. rolleyes1.gif

Great Heron shot, Ric, with perfect exposure.

Funny, your water landscape shots look like mine. There's just some quality about the pics that come out of the 5DMII. nod.gif

Those Cheeseheads are pretty nice folk and wouldn't beat up a geeezer unless, of course, THE game was on that week.

Just getting started with the 5D MKII...but one thing that kinda irks me is the trouble viewing the files for review. They load s l o w and apparent focus isn't readily ascertainable. I have a 26'' monitor and have to go to 50% to determine focus...not something easily done in bridge. I have a huge preview window that shows a frame somewhere around 22%. You have the 100% loupe...but that's no good for going over shots any way but painstakingly slow. And, of course raw files seem flat anyway.

Shooting jpeg's for everything but those special shots may be a way to go...gotta think about it more.

    Two choices here, Ric.

    1) Get bigger/better/faster computer. A good one will cost more than the camera. rolleyes1.gif

    2) I know this sounds like heresy, but try RAW1. Your pics will be manageable in size and actually better quality, not unlike what happens when you downsize a shot after processing. Less noise and sharper when viewed at 100%. 99% of the time you'll never miss having the huge RAW file around. That 1% of the time where you decide you want to print something bill-board size? Well, you can always go back and take the shot in full size RAW. :giggle

    Cheers,
