SB600 for my Nikon D90?

This would be my first external flash purchase. Would it be too over-the-top for someone who really hasn't really learned how to use an external flash yet? Or is it something that I will love as I learn how to use it?

Any other recommendations?

Please let me know. Thanks.

Stradivarius, welcome to the Digital Grin. clap.gif

The Nikon SB600 and SB800 flashes are wonderful and either, used properly, can greatly enhance indoor and night photography. I would add a couple of DIY flash modifiers and then suggest that you spend some time learning the proper use of external flash.

Here are links to the modifiers I mentioned:

Joe Demb also makes an interesting device for sale (reasonable):

I own a FlipIt product and it works well and is very well made.

I have both the SB-600 and the SB-900. 600 is a good flash and is not that difficult to use. plus you can use it with the CLS as a remote off camera flash

    Hey to you both...

Thanks so much. I'll purchase the flash and start playing around with it. I'll also look into the modifiers you suggested, Ziggy.
