Goodmorning everyone, Im fairly new here but have been lurking a bit.

I am currently trying to build my "Online Portfolio" portfolio only, my question is, do I need to obtain model realease's (I have release's for all my current portfolio photos) for this? Im sure it would be a common courtesy (sp) at the least, but is it really needed to cover my butt?

Thanks for any input and hope this hasnt been covered before or I have missed it.

If you arent selling pictures I do not think you need a model release if it was in a public place. ne_nau.gif

    Morning Chase,
I'm not intending to sell my portfolio photos once I have them in my portfolio BUT some of them are or will be minors ? Does that change the equation? I have sold most if not all the photos to the individual(s) then if they have a photo I want to use I simply ask for a release at that point. My question remains, Do I even need to ask for a release or am I just being curtious to them and going an extra step to cover my beeehind? Anyone ?

    Thanks for respononding

If you use the picture as a way to get jobs then it is your advertising and you may need a release. I say may because I have many great pictures with no releases which were shot in public and I doubt anyone will care.

Much has been written about model releases. A quick search will point you
to a few web sites. This is one of them.
