These are from Sunday which makes them about a week and a half old. I was worried the "Sleepy" wasn't going to make it since he was so much smaller and didn't come out of the nest often. The "Twins", I had dubbed since they were the identical size and seemed inseparable, have been joined by Sleepy so I've renamed the bunch "Tres Amigos". One of those is singularly called Goofy as he frequently puts on that look of not understanding what's going on. "Uno" is trying to fly while the others only stretch their wings. He spends alot of time 30ft up the tree while they all hang-out near the nest.
I was really trying to get some feeding pics this weekend but mom and pop simply would not cooperate. Even though I was 50 ft across the pond and 8 ft behind my blind, I couldn't fool them for a minute. They would spot me from atop 30ft trees nearby.
Anyway, today I went strictly with the Pentax K20D and Sigma 50-500, no TC. All pics taken n a tripod at ISO 400, Av mode f=8.0 with DRANGE=200. Shutter speed ranged from 1/350 to 1/750. No flash.

Uno: ready to fly. Check out that Mohawk! He looks a bit like Little Richard.

Here's Mom. Note the Orange legs: its breeding season.
