While on vacation last week we visited a small park and campground in Greenville, Al. My 16 yo son took off with the camera and began exploring the area. There was a nice lake with paths around it. He grabbed several shots of this pretty good size snake. Thought they turned our pretty well. I am thinking it is a copperhead but am not sure.

C & C is always welcomed.

Cool shots. Perhaps a polarizer would have helped to reduce some of the glare?

I don't know where you're located but this looks, to me, like a Northern Water Snake rather than the lighter Copperhead. Also note that the Copperhead's head is shaped like an arrowhead. At any rate, distance is probably the best policy! :)

    Well done!

Nice comp in that first and a polarizer would have helped. However, I can still see the coloration of the snake. Cool find for your 16 yr. old. I agree though that even though the coloration looks like a copperhead, the head doesn't. Although I'd have to have a few more angles of the head to be sure.
