I like it better than the fire shot. The composition is very pleasing, although I do wish it was not so dark on the water there on the left side of the frame.

It is well shot and the idea is a good one. The only thing that is off for me is the title because these waters look so peaceful and calm and not troubled, like say, a rushing flood zone would look..

So, because there is still plenty of time, I say put it in your selection of choices, but keep shooting and then you will have several to choose from...mwink.gif

    A very pretty shot..thumb.gif

Nice! But as Kat suggested the river is too serene for the title you chose. ne_nau.gif

How about considering one of these:
    • The River: Bruce Springsteen
    • Old Man River: Jerome Kern/Oscar Hammerstein
    • River: Joni Mitchell
    • The River of Dreams: Bill Joel
    • Shenandoah -- and if that, indeed, is the Shenandoah River in your photo, that title is perfect.

I think that river and those mountains have a lot of potential...

Thank you. The "Old Man River" suggestion would be perfect. This is the "New River" and since it is listed as one of the oldest rivers in the world, cantankerous in that it is one the few rivers that flows North, and just meandors around it's many bends and curves. Thank you again.

Kat, I will try to pull out that corner. Any suggestions, I already messed with the curves a bit until the three layers of shading felt right and sharpened the whole shot by quite a bit to harden it, and of course went to grayscale mode for an aged look. This will be new for me 'cause I usually don't do a lot of post shooting work. Habits of shooting film.:D My software is GIMP, very similar to Photoshop.

Cropped the image to reduce the dark corner and adjusted light levels to brighten the overall image.
...and changed the title song thumb.gif

Light levels look much better! thumb.gif I'd try cropping out the white sky to about halfway down to the mountain on the right. See how you like it. mwink.gif

Came down half on the right and came in from the left a bit. Just coming down darkened the image too much and coming from the left seemed to help focus on the river a bit more.

I like it! When you displayed this version my eye was able to pick up more details in the river. The photo has a lovely serene quality to it.
