I htink I would centered the crop in this one more

I favor #1 and I think you should at least try a centered crop as Chris suggested.
The way her wings spread out may just work with a centered crop better..
You might consider posting that edit on here to let us see what that would look like too.. and just a touch more sharpening..
It is a very nice capture and fits the title well too..

As for #3....nice thought and image but I dont feel it quite as stong as the potential in #2 in content. IMO
Thanks for looking.

I'd like to see a closer crop on this. It is a great fit for the song. The picture just needs more focus (less snapshotty), although a great capture!

Not a weirdo to like 'Wipe Out'. It's got great energy and works well with the song title. What holds it back a bit for me is that I would rather see a face in the image and not just both backsides.
Wipeout as in the old 1963 song? Perfect! That's the first thing I thought of when I saw this.
And it does count as a song becuase it has 1 word in it...2 if you count the "laugh".

Even with 21 megapixels that the 5DMKII give me, I can't crop any closer with out killing the photo.
the full frame.
The ducks and guy walking have a lot more there to work with.

All the shots are great... I really love the "walking in Memphis", but I think the "gimmee shelter", either one, is perfect for the song.

But I definitely feel the "sweet! narly! wow!" more with the cropped version probably because like Donna said, it's more in your face. Also probably, it lessens the effect of the fore/background DOF.
IMHO

Although "Wipeout" has quite a following, I really can't crop it any more than I already have, so
it loses that, as someone said, "In your face" thing.
I still have another week to maybe get something better than what I've shown.
I think right now I'm still leaning towards the "Walking in Memphis" shot.
Thanks for looking.

21 pixels... well, aren't we the fortunate one..hehe..
Hey,, I agree with your assessment on the wipe out shot. Although it is a fun capture and fun for the theme, it is not strong enough because we do not get the "full" human element in the shot. It leaves us wanting more..
The new one you posted of the bird sure is some fine photog work..thumb
However, I am not digging the blur on the edges of the frame, and it needs a touch more head room, but I love the composition and what a gorgeous shot..
Memphis gets still gets my vote...

My Niece has three bearded dragons, so we had some fun today.
Puff the Magic Dragon. (Peter, Paul, and Mary)
Speedy Gonzales. (Pat Boone)
(Should be "Vote for Pedro", but there's no song named that)
The Beautiful People. (Marilyn Manson)
Godzilla. (Blue Oyster Cult)
No real contenders, just having fun.

They are all great photos! Good job!!

This is outstanding photography work here... The lighting, the colors and processing and the details are gorgeous Dave..!!!
James Taylor : Mexico is the first song that came to mind...:D
Too bad you don't have a shot of the desert or cactus to composite into the shot...
Ha! As soon as you said that I thought of a song called 'Mexiko' by Tři Sestry. It's in Czech with some random Spanish words and phrases thrown in, it's hilarious. This is the chorus:
Mexiko, Mexiko sombrero grande tequila
Donde está zapatería, čeká mě míla.
Which is:
Mexico, Mexico big hat tequila
Were is the shoe store, my girlfriend is waiting for me (this last chunk is Czech)
HA! This dude is definitely looking for the shoe store.

How about Desperado by the Eagles.
I wish I was in Tijuana
Eating barbequed iguana
I'd take requests on the telephone
I'm on a wavelength far from home
I feel a hot wind on my shoulder
I dial it in from south of the border
I hear the talking of the DJ
Can't understand just what does he say?
I'm on a mexican radio. I'm on a Mexican, whoa-Oh, radio

Maybe you can composite a radio in there with him or a bottle of tequila?
Too fun...
