Hiking the Franklin Mountains - El Paso Trip Part 1

So, back in April I had the opportunity to go visit my brother down in El Paso, Texas before he left to serve his country in Iraq as a Diesel Mechanic.

While we were there one of the things me and my dad did together was going hiking in the Franklin Mountains. For those that don't know it is the largest urban park in the country. The Franklin Mountains State Park is located in the middle of the city of El Paso.

I believe we were about 6,500 feet up? we hiked about 7 miles total. 3.5 going up, 3.5 going down... We liked the going down part much more! Took us about 2 hours round trip.

We were hiking up Smuggler's Pass for those that know the area.

This is right as we're starting up the mountain. I had my dad be the workhorse... carrying the camera bag! Which was a bad idea to take along, cause I only switched lenses once!


Oh look... Its a really bad attempt at some macro photography (more like a close-up)! Taken with the 28-135 "kit" lens... The bee isn't that sharp :cry Can't wait till I get an actual macro lens!
