Sharpening - comparison of

Hi,

I find sharpening a difficult subject and so I've done a comparison of 11 different techniques - thought I would share them with you, if you might be interested.

To my mind there is a clear winner of the different classes of images - what do you think?

I just spent about 30 minutes on your pages, and still haven't downloaded the actions. Fascinating stuff.

I will download the actions, but that's going to suck up a few hours. I don't like using actions without knowing what they do; the individual steps. I'll have to print out the steps and follow the theory. Using an action without understanding how it works is rather defeating the purpose of learning how to improve the post-processing process.

What are you actually using for the "Fraser actions"?

If you click on an action name, it will show you the values and steps that are performed - but as I said in my notes, I'm using exactly the same values for all images (which is not the way one would use them), but it does allow equal comparisons over different image types.

Not for me using firefox...they turn blue, but no active link is available.

I've just tried Firefox and the links work on the Action page - not the sharpening page!

The Sharpening actions are 3/4 down the page under "CBsActions-Sharpen"
and the Local Contrast ones are 1/2 way down under "CBsActions-Contrast"
