my real job
looking for someone to photograph my wedding 8/11
This is a great setting in which to do street photography. But when doing it, I'd suggest shooting unobtrusively with a 50mm lens or a 35 or 28 so that you can give us a feeling of engagement with the subjects, rather than a feeling that you were photographically sniping them. There are lots of intriguing subjects here, but as they've been shot, I see them as types, rather than as people.
"He not busy being born is busy dying." Bob Dylan
"The more ambiguous the photograph is, the better it is..." Leonard Freed
I agree with the way they appear, but I have found that it's really really hard to shoot unobtrusively with a 50mm (and I use my 50mm 90% of the time) because I feel like the subject ends up getting lost in the frame if I'm not close enough... and getting close enough feels like I'm stalking them! Is there maybe a mid-range that would work better? What about an 85mm?
