Went with a group last week to shoot the Boston Garden and Common at night. It was one of those lucky nights as the sky was completely cloudy until just before sunset and then they broke very rapidly. Here are a few, some HDR and some with more standard processing. C&C always welcome.

#1 Swan Boats and World's Smallest Suspension Bridge

great work man!... love the wind swept skythumb.gif and the clarity is popping!

in my ignorance let me ask... is f10 a great setting for these type of shots? i would have guessed to use a f16 for some more defined star action on the lights but maybe that softens the image?...i dont know thats why i ask...

    Thanks for the comment, Aaron.

For this lens f10 is in the sharpest range. I was trying to keep it as sharp as possible while getting some stars on the lights. You're right, if I wanted to enhance the stars I'd close the aperture down even more. I did that for some shots but like what I got at this range best.

Really nice series. I love 3,4, and 5. You capitalized on the Blue Hour. Great reflections and compositions.

Great series, Tom! The 2nd and 4th are my favorite of this bunch. Bean town looks beautiful through your eyes! clap.gifthumb.gif
Shoot in RAW because memory is cheap but memories are priceless.

I absolutely love the light and colors in the last two. Makes me wish I was sitting on that green grass watching the sky!

Thanks Mahesh. It was a fun night, but a bit long. We arrived at the Public Gardens at about 6p and left to head home about 11p.

Thanks Schmoo. I was surprised how active the Common was at that time of night (in a good way). Lots of soccer and baseball games going on along with people just hanging out.

Great pics! I was just there at that park last week. I only brought my G9, and took some nice snapshots, but after a day or so being there, especially at night, I wish I had my gear.

Boston is an amazing city, ya forget just how much early American history has happened there. Cant wait to go back. And want to spend more time maybe around Newport RI, and NH, and maybe Maine.
