Issue with sort by date taken for videos

Hi,
I'm sure I'm not the only one with galleries mixing videos and photos
When I choose auto sort by date taken, I always end up with the videos in front of everything else :

I guess this is because SM cannot extract a date taken from a video ? Is that right ?
Is there a workaround ?
I've tried sorting by filenames and it works ok however you can't use the filename sorting when a gallery contains photos/videos from several cameras (ie Nikon D50 and Panasonic Lumix).
Thanks,
McGil

in cases like this, I take the following steps:
a) Sync the EXIF timestamps in the pictures (how to do this might take up a whole other thread. We shoot one watch with all cameras we have on scene, then calculate the differences and manipulate the EXIF data).
b) Batch-rename all pictures, using the timestamp: 2009-07-22-17-52-32.jpg
c) Apply similar filenames to the videos.
Then you can sort by filename and have the same effect as sorting by date/time.
Bye

Andy, a "quick" fix would be to modify the sort by date logic and look at the file creation timestap for videos (as they don't have exif) ?
Now that means that your logic would be able to differentiate photos from videos, which might be a problem

As I mention in the second post in that thread, it would be awesome if SmugMug's uploader was smart enough to recognize the various thumbnail/sidecar files that most cameras now create along with the video. On Canons, these files are named MVI_1234.THM (to go along with MVI_1234.AVI or MOV), and basically have all the date/time info stored in EXIF data, since they are regular JPG images.
Panasonic cameras apparently use the JPG suffix, and I'm not sure about Nikons.
