[FONT=Verdana, sans-serif]Here is a second series of shots from Friday's adventure up Mt Ellinor in Washington State. When you take more than 1000 shots you're bound to have a few keepers.

#3 For some it's an old blanket. For others, teddy bears. But there is nothing like a rock to comfort a goat. :D

Once again, wow! The goats really allow a pretty close approach. Nice work on the exposure with the white wool and funky lighting plus shadows. Beautiful country up there.

Thanks Stephen, yes, that white wool makes for a challenge. I have plenty of shots that would have been nice but I burned out the shot.

That was sure some kind of photo op you had that day Mark. Thanks for sharing the pictures with us. Some made me a bit nervous, that fear of heights, but others were just plain cool. Really like #3 and your caption. :D

Nice set, Mark. Outdid the first installment. That last shot is just too precious. Nice job with the photography and congrats on what was obviously a cool experience thumb.gif

Those first two make me nervous just looking at them! Amazing shots, all! What fun subjects in a beautiful location. Love the comp on #5 and the expression on #6. thumb.gif

    Thanks everyone.

I saw saw some goats on the next mountain over about three years ago and knew this location was notorious for goat sightings. For three years I have been making this trip, about 5 climbs/hikes a year to get this chance and I finally found them. For three years I have ran through how I was going to do this and what the conditions would be: exposure, best position to be in, weather and yes Ric, I wanted to make sure to not to get so caught up that I let my guard down. :D All in all it was a magical experience and I think I am one of the few who has made their shutter smoke from and hour of non stop clicks. rolleyes1.gif

Next on my list... bears and rams.

Is this supposed to be Mt Ellinor?

Great country! The closest I have ever been to this location was a long time ago when I was in the Navy in 1969. The ship I was on was part of the Portland Rose Festival.

Steaming up the Columbia River and seeing Mt. Saint Helens in the distance is something I cherish.
