The second one came out just the way I envisioned it while taking the shot. My first impression was that the bird was too far away....then I saw the geometry of the field as a natural vignette of sorts.
Both are very nice Ric. Good exposure control with the Great Egret and I like the comp and of the sandie plus the overall image is quite pleasing seeing that long neck rise above the tall grasses.

I don't get backgrounds like that down here. We just have them walking around on ... well ... sand, most all the time.
