I love it, but I can't subscribe....

Well I'm a couple of days into my 14 day trial, and loving the layout and customizing options so far..

BUT...

Because of the strangely limiting payment options, Smugmug won't take my money and I can't subscribe. I don't have a credit card, and have never had any problems buying things online before with my debit card / Paypal account. I'm a Brit based in Australia, and so convoluted solutions such as "Amazon payments", or a Paypal plugin which generates virtual credit card numbers seem to be no good to me.

Shame, because it's a great site, and I really don't want to have to go back to Flickr.

Anyone else had similar problems, and any tips for getting round it? Or am I just archaic for refusing to have a credit card (silly me, wanting to only spend money I actually have...!)

Hi Sam, Sorry for the payment options that limit you! I feel the same way, I use only Amex, it's a charge card not credit, bill is due in full each month

Maybe you can get a friend to hook you up, and you an pay them? I'm sorry again.

Yes, asking a friend is probably my best bet - not ideal, but never mind!

I wonder if there are plans to increase the flexibility of payments in the future? Seems to me Smugmug can only gain from such a move - a truly international site makes for a stronger community, I would have thought. As it stands, the options make it a bit U.S.-Centric. But maybe it's just me!

Anyway, great site, I hope to find a way in soon. Thanks for the swift response!
