CCD vs. CMOS?

I'm just curious, I've heard all sorts of different opinions about the two of the sensors, and different rumours, but I'd like to know the real story behind the two of them. How do each work? And what are their advantages and disadvantages?

Hi,

There is a good article here: http://www.dalsa.com/markets/ccd_vs_cmos.asp on it from a well reknown imaging company that build both. It goes into a fair amount of detail but doesn't require too much knowledge of quantum physics.

If you're interested in more detail, post back and I'll see what I know do to dig some stuff up for you.
