North Hayling nature reserve

Thought I would share these with you. They were taken at the above nature reserve over a period of 1 hour yesterday.

Its been a good year at the Tern Colony. A second batch of young are appearing with other Terns sitting on eggs. Here an amorous male is displaying to a female.......

only to be rejected. Note the 3-4 day old Black-headed gull looking on from the vegetation.

A careless Tern arrives back to feed its young and almost lands on another! Its partner, with a new hatchling alongside seems to scold it for its clumsiness.

    Very nice behavioral images. These terns and even gulls can be very photogenic. Yours are no different.

    Thanks Stephen. I am a volunteer warden at this site so I see them twice a week. Quite a few people visit the site each day and its really great to exchange information about the Terns, Gulls and other wildlife around. I have been surprised how knowledgeable some of them are.
    Things change come September when the Terns head back for Africa and lots of migrant wildfowl and waders take their place. There is always something new around Langstone Harbour.
