I was late for an appointment yesterday because I just had to watch the end of Sabrina to see who was gonna get Audrey... Of course I knew all along that it would be Humphrey, but there was that little chance that maybe William would finally win out...

The image of Humphrey in that college sweater, cap, and little guitar/ukelele is still one of the most hilariously uncharacteristic images I've ever seen in film. Poor Harrison just didn't have quite the same legendary stature to pull it off in the remake. :giggle

well dang it!, my shot required a trip back up the mountain, but I just cant make it back this weekend, all in time for the deadline....
In hopes to get some credit for a fun idea I will tell you the plan:
it was going to be a naked man in a bathtub out in the wide open....oh wait I was going to wear a cowboy hat covering most of my face...
    here is the scene :
    611221317_hxRXv-L.jpg

well anyway I have a back up plan...but its not near as good as an idea as the bathtub IMO.
wish me luck over the weekend! everyone get your entries donethumb.gif

here was the scene I was going to reshoot with a naked man...

Oh, Aaron... you always keep us entertained!

I think I may have to cry Uncle and bag out on this one. My first idea simply won't work ("composition" becomes an impossible concept when the space is too small for 17mm - which is my widest angle) and Visual Expressions has already posted my backup plan (better than I would have done it, too!).

So... unless there's an amazing chance opp this weekend... I'm out.... :(

Well Aaron there is still the possibility of a composite. Just take a shot of yourself in your home tub and then bring that in as a composite.. well an idea anyways.. I dunno...headscratch.gif... surely you got some other ideas?

Miss Diva.... I agree with Miss Linda.. you are around all of those performers... surely there will be a chance to capture one on camera? If my camera was not broken and dead in the water, I was going to shoot my husband. hahaha.. ya know performing as a musician.. isn't you're husband also a musician ?

I am surprised we have not seen the working "mom" in the gallery yet headscratch.gif, ya know the apron and the lunches and the housework etc, etc...

Another shot that would be really cool is a bartender shot, a lot of light and color in one of those.. see there are a ton of ideas out there.... I am sure you will pull off something...mwink.gif

Hey Miss Donna Doolittle.. what do you have up your sleeve? headscratch.gifrofl

Oh Well... I have a feeling that until I get my camera back, I am going to become a real pain.... I have plenty of time on my hands to thoroughly bug the living daylights out of all of you... camera withdraws...eek7.gifhuheek7.gif,, they are setting in...

Ah, but I'm only around "all those performers" when I'm in production. Which right now I'm not ne_nau.gif

I actually have a very strong and clear idea of what I consider an environmental portrait and quite a few thoughts about what I COULD shoot, but I have nobody I can strongarm into doing it for me. I've thought about several people, but every single one I've considered is camera-shy (my husband most of all - flat refusal to appear in any photos, and I don't press him on it because I know how much he hates it), and I just don't like to pester them about it.

It's a good thing I never had any desire to be a press photographer or journalist because I would SUCK at it rolleyes1.gif

So... I may just step back on this one. Unless, of course, something interesting emerges over the weekend.... mwink.gif

    Hey Christopher..

The sub-mirror pin broke... got that fixed, and now it is not powering.. I am beyond frustrated...and if I put out 200 to 300 for another repair I might as well buy a new one...!!! rolleyes1.gifrolleyesrolleyes1.gif

So, I am trying to work the finances for the new Nikon D300, going to give Nikon a shot... I did have a canon powershot A40, but I gave that to my sister when I got the Canon XTI... so for now... I am on the sidelines as a watcher... In some ways this is good, it gives me time to catch up on the property and renovations, plus study and get through all of these videos and books on the technical stuff, along with work on my new flash website..

I just got The Best of Dean Collins on Lighting 4 DVD set... and I am looking forward to learning from it..

Good luck with your entry... Awesome shot...thumb.gif

Moments after I submitted my entry I realized my submission was not really a portrait, but rather a candid, street shot. May I withdraw my entry?

The line that distinguishes them is fuzzy at best. Portraits don't have to be staged.

Sara, I haven't seen your entry yet, but I shoot street and am planning on submitting a "Street Portrait" for the challenge. In our case, I think the essential component is that the subject is aware that you are a photographer and that they are your subject.

There's the rub - it's a candid shot, the subjects were totally unaware that they were being photographed.

I have a better environmental portrait. I should not have been so quick on the draw, but it was late at night, I had just returned from a 3,000 mile train ride, and I wanted to go to sleep. :cry

Alrighty, I've scrubbed the gallery for anything marked "delete me." thumb.gif

Sara, you can certainly withdraw your entry and enter a different one. Just upload a new photo to the gallery and change the caption of the old one to "delete" so I'm sure to nix the right one.

I have absolutely NOTHING! zero, zip, nada. My niece wouldn't give in and let me... Oh well.... I had my specialist appt this week and trying to get a insurance supplement going so I am all covered. Major pain with a preexisting condition but I got it in time for the "guaranteed coverage" period after my disability Medicare finally started.... Oh heck... long story short, a lot going on.

So, I missed that... you sent your camera in to be fixed? You will have to catch me up. You know... I have been known to buy a disposable in a pinch and have the pictures put on a cd.... Laughing.gif

Well, I don't know about a disposable.. I may have to talk the sister into lending me back my old canon point and shoot for awhile..headscratch.gif.. definitely if the withdraws get any worse..bowdown.gif

Nothing this round huh? Well, at least you got some important stuff taken care of this week... Could not talk those DG orphans into helping you ? headscratch.gif Perhaps you can bait them with some pizza?:ivar
