Great shots. He's scary, with that face I'd prefer bird butt
But as 'Uncle Buck' would say give him a quarter and have a rat 'knaw' that off his face. ////////// I'll bet they look great in flight. I didn't know they were that colorful- as in 1st shot. I need to get to the zoo...............Mere

These are great!! Too bad one isn't eating some road kill or whatever. Would have made a perfect shot for the "Challenge", you know, something like "Eaters of the Dead". Ooops, that was the title of the book. The movie was the "13th Warrior". My bad, disregard... Still a great series of shots! Well done on capturing the outer ugly of these really cool creatures!thumb.gif

hmmmm... why is it that all the scavenger birds tend to be ugly? perhaps the question should be why are the ugly birds scavengers? maybe they have to scavenge because the dead food is all they can get close enough to without scaring it off.

that first one is kind of freaky in that it has beautiful colors but is butt-ugly anyway... poor thing.

    all are well executed photos.

Thanks skippy. I'm not sure even a mother can love those faces.

The King Vulture was outdoors but behind glass at the National Aviary. The Condor was outdoors with no barriers at the Akron Zoo.

Thanks AJ. I was happy to get that straight on shot for the unique look of it. I could of used a smaller AV for better DOF and a sharper pic, but he turned and faced me and I got the shot off fast. Which was good because he went back to profile only mode.
