Request to purchase photo from ceremony site
Good afternoon
I uploaded images for my latest wedding.
The bride emailed me back, indicating that the hotel where the wedding was held would like to purchase three photos of the ceremony for their use. The bride works at the hotel.
I am not sure how to handle this or price for commercial use. I haven't encountered this in the past. Any suggestions?
Thanks

You mean the jpegs? I would say $50-100 each.
edit: this got me thinking. If the B&G purchase the images..then they are co-owners of the images as well no? They are free to do with them as they please? sell them, post them, etc

Totally depends on your contract terms with the B&G. My contract explicitly states that they may reproduce for PERSONAL use only. They may not sell them to say, the reception site, for commercial use.

Lovin' my Canon 5D Mark II!
This may be a track "in" for you to get more work from referals from the venue. Id talk with them and see what they are after....and maybe offer to put an album together if they can get you the opportunity at more shots of the place in full decor. Then you could put together an hourly rate for shooting plus what you normally charge for your albums.
Might be a case of you scratch my back Ill scratch yours?

I am shooting an entire wedding for free for the daughter of a Caterer at a local venue who has since sent several full paying wedding my way. You can not have enough friends in the other wedding industries.

Exactly!
Feel them out first. Urbanaries did a similar deal and gets a lot of biz through a very classy venue...I think.

My contract states that the couple can only use them for personal reproduction/use so that isn't a concern.
My initial feeling was a reasonable price for the prints, but my gut was thinking about the senerio presented here - the "I scratch your back, you scratch mine".
I agree that I will get a feel for what they are looking for and go from there.
Thanks for your input

i am adding that $50-100 a picture is a little low.
you are selling them an image they can use multiple times - maybe for years.
if the relationship does not pan out.... i would sell for 250 or more an image.
