These are truly outstanding! And I know from experience how hard damselflies can be.

100mm macro iso400 , f8 1/250th first 2 frames,
second one focus stacked,
3rd frame f6.3 1/200th

Thanks very much. I have been craving an EF 100mm f/2.8 for some time, and this will add to it. One other question--since you used focus stacking, did you use a tripod, or is the software good enough at aligning that you can get away with handheld? I have downloaded combineZP but have not yet had a chance to play with it.

dont use tripod,i stack some shots using czm, czp or by hand with layer masks in ps.
software wont align mis aligned frames, use layer masks by hand in these cases.

Great pics, Phil. Love those crazy eyes. I haven't used CZP yet, but I believe it will let you manually align your images.

Awesome pics, I really get confused about where the eyes start and stop on these flies.
