Batteries & Chargers

What is the general wisdom on AA batteries and chargers now? I have some Lenmar's that take about 90+ minutes to fully charge, and come out almost too hot to touch if they need a full charge. They are getting a bit old, but still hold the charge pretty well. Do the quick-charge systems work on anyone's NiMH batteries, or is it a package deal (battery/charger are matched?). Is this one of those deals where the Energizer or Duracell system at WalMart is the best quality and price? Once I had some Energizers, but they didn't hold the charge very well.
I'm looking for recommendations (or avoid at all costs warnings) for a system that can charge 8 or 12 batteries in reasonably short order. When I just had one flash, the 4-battery charger was okay (though 90 min is too long). I'd like to be able to toss 12 or 16 batteries in while I'm collecting my gear and have them charged in 15 (assuming the product lasts and holds the charge).
