I have been gone for a couple of weeks, on vacation to see my daughter and her husband in Grants Pass, OR. It was REALLY HOT there!! We had visited last year and I was really bummed when we left and I had not been able to get up to Crater Lake. I have seen many photos, but have never been there. This is one time that I really wish that I had a wide angle lens. I did take some pics with the intention of trying to stitch some together is I can figure that one out. We escaped the heat for the day up there as it was in the high 60's which I liked a lot. They did have a hellacious amount of mosquitoes up there though. They were landing in squadrons and about carried you away. It was unreal!!
Anyway, here are a few pics that I worked up last night. I hope that you enjoy them and get a sense of the beauty that was there!!

Thanks, Ron

4. I think there was a fire in the area. At first I thought it was clouds, but then decided that it was smoke.

Sunset. You have no idea how many mosquito bites I received for this one. I do wish that there had been some clouds in the sky.

All nice images of a place abounding with photographic opportunities. I think that the last one is my favorite with the evening light and warm colors on the peaks of the rim and the reflections in the water.

Thanks Mahesh! I have wanted to go up there for so long and it truly was worth all of time it took to get there. I wish it was not so far from my home as I would be up there often. I think winter would be a great time to visit also. I sure did enjoy the change in temp up there!!
I will be looking forward to some of your photos from the area!!

These are really pretty! I think my faves are 2 and 6. Beautiful colors! What time of day were these taken? I could go for mid 60s right now...it has been way too hot 'round here!

Another location on my "list". Man the water level looks low in the last shot. Never see a shot of it that low, almost looks like you could wade out to the cone.

    Great shots.

    Very nice, I like #5.

I was up there last weekend and I have never seen so many mosquitoes in my life. I got run off several overlooks because of them.

Thanks Danny. I really like the 2nd one also. I think my favorites out of these are #2, 4 and 6. I do like the sunset a lot, but I do keep coming back to #2 and really do like it. Not sure why...

Thanks Elaine, I am used to heat, but it was just over the top hot for me on this trip. The temp at Crater Lake was very welcomed!!

    Nice....
I think #3 is my favorite of the bunch... I like the way you can see the drop off towards the lake, and it has a nice view of the size of it all. BTW, there's some stuff called DEET you might want to look into :)

Thanks Rocky. The water is indeed so blue, it almost does not look real. It is hard not to get some nice photos there. I hope that a job comes soon for you!!
