A few of the images from today's visit
Common Tern
The weather today was poor with high winds blowing through the Solent and heavy showers. Fishing for these birds was not too good so instead they were bringing crabs back for their young.
This Tern had landed next to the chick then realised that it was NOT its own and took off again. The chick seems to bewildered and disappointed.
It is hard to credit that this chick has only till September to fledge and learn to fend for itself before the long journey to Africa for the winter.
Curlew
In one of the undeveloped (as yet) oysterbeds.
Little Egret
These are extremely difficult to get the exposure right.
Two shots of one that seems to have made the breeding area a favourite spot to roost.
The big yawn
and finally, one in flight
C & CC very welcome

The Curlew would look better with less room on the right and a tad off the top...IMO.:D

Yes!
That's one long beak!!!:wow
That's why I had to look the Curlew up again just to make sure that I had the right ID before posting the image. I have not seen one with this beak length before.
