Hey Art, cat suddenly got your tongue? your ramblings in the RIP-WP thread about lack of critical input in the shot forums seems to have come homw to roost. eek7.gif

    Aaron:

    problem: there's no there there.

you have an image that is nicely exposed with good elements and really nice bokeh but your focal point on the edge of the table is far too extreme and close-up without a reason - nothing of interest.

As someone said above - add in a beer (or something equally tempting) alter the POV angle a bit & perhaps pull out some for an extended view of the beach / shoreline for a truly compelling and possibly commercially viable shot.

    Bring HER in!
Very true Angelo! I did not think of it in that light before, thanks! I totally agree. I posted this shot because I did not know what to think about it, but I knew that color and exposure wise it was a great shot.

What do you guys think about this one?

The new photograph seems a tad lacking character to me...As it is, it's a picture of a winch and some rope. Maybe if you had that and then whatever the winch was attached to out of focus in the background or something it would add some meaning to it, but in my eyes at the moment the subject isn't particularly engaging.

The first time I opened this thread I missed that "C&C please". Since this forum is not normally one where C&C is the norm, it's not clear what you want. Also, it's not established how candid C&C is to be in this forum.

In my opinion, the photograph lacks a central point of interest. Or, any interest at all. The side of the table that is in focus is not something that is of interest to a viewer. Honestly, I have no idea of what you were going for here.

I'd like to add "You did this wrong, but you did this other thing right", but I don't see anything in that photograph that is right.

That "C&C please" was easily missed. If Mr Quiet is sincere in wanting C&C, he should make it clear in the submission that this is the reason for the post. We're used to this forum being just a display of what we consider to be our "cool" shots. The request "C&C please", in this forum in the past, has been treated much like "Does this dress make my butt look fat?"...best not answered candidly.

I've been following the thread regarding the WP. If it's brutal honesty the OP is looking for, well, the OP should do a lot of studying and spend some time putting that study into practice. These shots are all weak, and none merit serious criticism because the op has not met what I feel to be a level of serious effort in constructing them.
