Nikon D90 on tripod

How come Nikon made the D90 without a hole for the pin on a tripod head? Is this common? It seems to me the pin hole would be a really nice feature for not letting the camera loosen on the tripod mount or twist when you flip over to portrait on a ball head. Any good solutions for this? I am using a Gitzo ball head.:dunno

Video cameras commonly do have that pin-hole but dSLRs typically do not. I have heard of people drilling their own hole to match but I do not recommend that.

More common is something called an "anti-twist" plate, specific to each camera model, and often specific to a particular head and quick release as well.
