I posted this question once before but can't seem to find your replies. I am looking to get some studio lighting setups and I've opted to use portable flash units instead of studio strobes. what wireless transmitters and receivers do you all use that will work with portable strobes?

I use this "EBAY TRIGGERS RD616 WIRELESS RADIO FREQUENCY 16 CHANNEL TRIGGERS"..........and the also take you to the company I buy from........they work real well andare good upto 150 ft........the only thing extra you would need is the hotshoe adapter to fit on the light stand ....it is shown in the photo and in red eays does not come with kit.....it is an extra $4-6 from same ebay merchant.........I like mine real well and was turned on to them by GUS from OZ when he was still hangin out here.

I have had no problems with mine....I did get one receiver that was DOA but photogearok replaced with out a hitch....I emailed and they gave me and address to send mine back and just a couple of days I had a new kit....and I know mine had not reached them when I received my new one.

I think that most everyone in the world is running Pocket Wizards but I've found that my Bowens BW5160 units work great. Nice range, good dependability.

Yep, PocketWizards are pretty much the industry standard. I use them, but shooting sports and having access to venue lighting, PW's are a must. They are reliable, durable and easy to use.

    They are also expensive.

I just asked this question on a different forum and like here, you find out that PW's are the gold standard.

Seeing as I don't have the cash for the PW's, someone sent me to this site: LINK

I had bought a camera cable from Gadget Infinity before, so I at least knew that they were a good co.

I ordered a V4 transmitter with a receiver, plus 2 more receivers for under $100.
If I were ordering again, I'd get 2 transmitter with receivers with an extra receiver for $20 more.
That way I'd have an extra trans. and rec. in case something were to happen.

What I liked about this site, it told me what flashes these had been tested with.
I have 2 Canon 420EX flashes and I believe that these triggers will work good for me.
They don't have the range of PW's, but for my shooting, I don't need to be 50 feet or more away from the flashes.

I ordered with regular shipping, so it will take up to 2 weeks for them to show up.
    I'll post my findings then.
    dave.

Thanks Art, your link was the one I was looking for. I remember your suggestions from the last time I posted this question.

What types of flash units do you use that this works well with? Right now I have a Nikon D60 and a couple Vivitar 283 flash units.
