Has anyone used the authorized Nikon service center.... photo-tech in New York City? I need my sensor on the D3 cleaned and also my 70-200 lens checked out. Having some autofocus issues and the dreaded flashing F0 .... I don't really want to package it up and send out for repair, would rather make an appointment and hop a train to the city.... anyone have experience with that?

I sent my 70-300 vr directly to nikon service center, not in the city. the communications were great, but in my case the part my lens needed was backordered. When the lens came back, 2 months full warranty repair, it worked better than before.

I would concider sending it to Nikon direct before you go to an authorized dealer.

I have only dealt once and it was Nikon Service Center in El Segundo CA through local dealer. D300 died came back better then new. I want to do the same thing with Nikon 200mm f2 lens to touch up focus with the D300 but have not taken the time to send it off.

Thanks for the responses.... I called the one in NY and they said they don't do appointments but if I came in when they first opened they will clean the sensor on a first come first serve basis but I would have to leave my lens overnight. I am not really in a position to do that....but I guess I gotta do what I gotta do right? ugh... a love hate relationship with technology
