Very slow processing after upload

Hi. Ever since we went to the new upload mechanism, it takes a lot longer to see the "Processing Image" icon, and even after you see it, it takes 15 minutes or more to see the actual image and the new total in the image count. :dunno

Any assistance in resolving this would be very appreciated.

BTW...my site is http://www.brogen.com and one of the recent galleries is the NEAq: Latino Open House

Thanks

I'd need to see it right when it's happening, Randy, Sorry.

I can upload one right now if you wish. I uploaded one of a fish and it took over a half hour to appear and I uploaded one of a snake and it appeared almost instantly.

    Hi Randy,

There are times when our upload servers are busier and on other times there are almost no uploads queued and your photos show up instantly. I'm sorry, but there will be always delays at some points if lots of people upload no matter how many upload servers we have running.

You could try to move your bulk uploads to a different time, like late at night or early in the morning.

Hi Sebastian: This was not actuall bulk uploads but individual photos at a time. I'd process one, upload and repeat and it would take up to 30 minutes or more for the "Processing Image" icon to appear and then another undetermined amount of time for the actual image to appear. This happens regularly and at all times of day and night. It is really frustrating.

Folks: This is getting to be a real hassle with the upload. I upload a a file and it doesn't immediately give me the "Processing Image" place holder icon any longer and it is taking 15, 20 and 30 minutes or more for some images to appear. It doesn't matter if it is a single upload or multiple. This is very inefficient and frustrating when all I want to do is finish the processing and release the photos. I've noted other's in the forums having similar issues. Can someone let me know what is going on and how we fix it or can we get the old upload system back as it was much more stable and efficient.

    Thanks

Hi Randy, I see nothing in the queue right now indicating a backup. Can you show me links to the photos in question? I want to investigate.

    Hey Andy,

Thank you for looking into this. This photo is an example of one that I uploaded and waited for 20 minutes and nothing and then uploaded "Replace Duplicates" option set and it took another 10 minutes to appear.

Here's one that I uploaded and it only took a few seconds for it to appear:

    Also,
I did a batch upload earlier tonight and it stopped 3 times and I had to keep retrying. My net connection is not the issue, I have checked and have not had any issues reported (my connection is business FIOS 20MB Up and 20MB Down).

Thanks again...hopefully we can find the culprit.

20090819-krcd49nmcyaajrnn3frxuu6m7y.jpg these are indicative of connection issues between you and us, Randy. Packet loss, instabilty at the wrong time, can cause this. You can ask Verizon about it but 9/10 times the issue goes away before they can "fix" anything.

Yes the upload time isn't the issue. It's after the upload is completed the gallery doesn't display the "Processing Image" icon or the image itself for a long time.

Let me know next it happens. Write down the times, specfically and exactly and then give me a link to the photo in-gallery. I'll try and replicate. Sorry, Randy, but we're accepting zillions of photos a day and not getting many similar complaints. I'll still try and replicate of course, it's just hard.

I appreciate you looking into this Andy and I know it's a difficult thing to pin down. I'll let you know shortly because I have a few more pics to upload and it is bound to happen on one ore more of them. Thanks again.
