amazing, as usual! Are they that crisp because of the camera, lens, or PP? I imagine that it's all of the above but what is it that gives it such a clean look? I would give anything to have mine look that great!

    The photos are great!clap.gif

@ Photosbychuck - I have a feeling that the sign is there intentionally because it's her name on it.
Cute idea but maybe too subtle.

Best part of all of them is that she looks like she's having fun.

The thing that caught my eye about the sign is the name looks out of perspective. It appears to be straight on to the camera, while the sign has a vanishing point...

    I like #8, #3 and the collage.

    Thanks!

    Great series man!
#6 and #8 are a bit overlit to my personal taste (she has a very fair skin) but that's a nit.

Nice set. I love the collage as well as the lighting.

Consider changing the poses slightly (#1, 3, 6,& 8) so that the eyes are not so decentered with her extreme gaze. Perhaps she does not need to look at the camera or can tilt her head toward the camera a little. All the shots have her looking right at the lens.

Dave...nice to see you here again...and especially nice to see your work.

Great images and post processing. I really like your colors. Very nice. Favorites...3, 4, and 7...and the collage.

    Thanks for sharing.

A really great set of a really pretty kid. You did a good job relaxing her and letting that gorgeous smile come through.

BTW, # 3 is particularly terrific.

Thanks. I use a 5D MK I and this lens is the 24-105 IS. I typically use that lens for most of my work but will pull out the 70-200 as well. All images of course are shot in RAW. It will make your color balance issues as well as other things much easier. Thanks for the nice comment. Make sure to have lots of fun! :D

I like them all. My only nits would be "I" like a shallower DOF in the environmental shots. Not enough seperation for me. Also in photo 1 the "blacks" are crushed. It appears she's wearing the same "blue" jeans as the other photos. In the first photo it almost looks like you purposely blacked out her legs. Makes it look like she's floating there with no legs :D

    Just my $.02.

That's a very nice set you have. I think the face is a bit overdone -- but that's a matter of taste. You certainly have a look to you work that I think is very commercial.

    Beautiful work, Swartzy! thumb.gifthumb.gif

One nit, though: Numbers one, two and five seem a tad cool. Add 10 to 15 points of red and a touch of yellow to number one and about five points of yellow to the other two to really bring her to life in those three.

Everything else about these and the rest is spot-on, my friend! Very impressive work!

Heheh...actually, all of the above. Processing is very important but lighting, focus, aperture, etc. equally falls into the equation. Keep shooting! I've always leaned toward the elegant, classy type images although its fun messing around with those split tones and such. I do quite a bit of model work so this style fits my vision. Thanks.

Thanks Nik. Yea, what generally happens in print is they are darker than on screen. I purposely lightened her up (and realize at the time of shoot I could have changed the ratios)....but...as they say, hind sight..Laughing.gif

Great lighting. Do you use a shoot-through umbrella? Softbox? And what do you use for remote triggering, the Canon IR thing or pocket wizard, or what?

In studio, large and medium softboxes, beauty dish, gridded strip light and bare bulb 7" reflector (AB 400). The outdoor shots: beauty dish (no grid, no diffuser) on heavy duty stand using Vagabond power source. Anymore, for out door shooting, I drag studio lights with me if at all possible. Better light, bigger light and much more control with the envelope (wrap around). I use Pocket Wizards for triggers.

    Thanks! :D
