If a person lived on an island and knew no one at all, is this person's photography being viewed by anyone? I know that eventfully "google" will find a person's username but is there any other way that a person browsing could ever stumble upon another person's work? Second Q, how does one link a blog to your sm site? I am a beginer grinner so I'm wondering?:dunno

    Brent,

I've moved this from Dgrin Forum Support to SmugMug Support. thumb.gif

    Good luck!

Take a look at this wiki entry - http://wiki.smugmug.net/display/SmugMug/Maximize+Search+Engine+Findability.

As far as blogs go, if you decide to customize your smugmug site it's relatively straightforward to match a blog published on blogger to your smugmug site. See HOW TO match your blog to your smug site (blogger-specific).

People generally find your work in one of three ways:
    1. You or someone who knows your site sends them a link to your site.
    2. You link to your site from other places on the web and they find your site through one of those other web pages.
    3. The viewer searches for something in a search engine and finds a link to your site in the search results.
Denise has given you info on #3. You are responsible for "getting known" to the people that you want to know about your site which is what #1 and #2 are about.

Without doing any of the three, but enabling Smugmug searching, there are ways for people to find your galleries through the Smugmug Browse interface. But, it takes a more sophisticated user to know to come to Smugmug to look for something. Most will start with a site someone told them about or go to Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc... and do a search.

Thank you both, as Ben Franklin states, be neither cunning nor silly just be wise. Thank you!
