Fighting Egrets

Gloomy day. I waited until nearly noon to head out shooting. By then,
the sun was brighter and the clouds beginning to disappear. Caught a
couple of egrets fighting in the trees.

I am amazed to watch what seems like a teritorial fight or maybe there's
some sort of hierarchical thing going on?

Excellent catch Ian. Your exposure is on the mark and the colors are fine.

These birds are very territorial. I've seen them go at it countless times for one to take control of an area and to chase off any interlopers.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

    Egret loaded trees
There must have been a lot of babies that survived. We were there this past week and besides those poor palms starting to look white, there was the lovely odor. I think the funniest thing is listening to the sounds they make! I was tempted to take a short movie just for the sounds.

I didn't get any good shots, definitely need a longer zoom -- and yes, I saw them fighting a bit too!

Very good catch and the light is really great!
